And then, as an added bonus, be overcome by a sense of morality, go vegan, get thinner, and embrace your humanity, rejoicing in your ability to actively abstain from violence. Then, save the planet by using less water and fossil fuels eating a non-animal diet. You rock!

Earlier, I heard on the late-night rap show on the radio, in a very rap accent, in response to the question,”how do you feel tonight?” “I feel all moscato’d up.” Not only do I wish that moscato would become a local rapper party drink, but I want to start telling people that’s how I felt.

Ok, 22 covers around here in winter is nothing to sneeze at. When you’re all by yourself in the kitchen, it’s a victory. I was surprised a little by what people ordered from my special menu, but only one plate came back half-eaten, and she said it was good (just full). So I’m pretty stoked right now. I was particularly delighted by the older woman who finished my super spicy...

So far so good. I’m the only chef here, so it’s a special California menu tonight. So far, people are digging it.

BMI and ASCAP are trying to extort money from us again. Hmmm, pay them protection money every month or stop live performances save for special events.

Cool to hear someone else reading your poetry.

Someone asked me this weekend if I am vegan for health reasons. No. Feeling and looking great is just nature’s little surprise present for being compassionate. Think of it like good karma: don’t kill and eat things and have a healthy prostate and better sex; don’t eat another species’ milk and don’t get breast cancer; don’t devour corpses and forget heart...

Alone at the quiet restaurant drinking Earl Grey. We aren’t open until 5 today, so I’m just reading Jack London, waiting for a Fed Ex delivery. I’ll perform tonight for open mic here. I think this will be a good day.

This morning I lost my voice. It has been annoying. Everyone thinks I’m sick. I’m not. I Judy can’t speak above a whisper. It’s somewhat frustrating. I saw Hugo 3D today. It was nearly as enchanting as the critics say it is. If you have the opportunity to see it in the third dimension, do it. As I left the theatre, I found out I could see Forks Over Knives for free. I...

I just saw FORKS OVER KNIVES for free at our local art house. Very good. I don’t know if I’ll give up olive oil ever. I wish there was something about real restaurants in the film. All they talked about was fast food. If you’re still eating fast food at this point, you’re probably a lost cause who doesn’t care about dying a horrible fat boy death anyway. Sorry, but...

Dropped my mom off at the airport. Must sleep soon. I think I have been to Washington Dulles more times than most people. It’s extremely familiar at this point, and I’m starting to resent it.

When did being conservative in this country start meaning you hated everyone and wanted to keep them from having any rights and to keep them poor and hungry? How can you hate women so much? How can you hate black people? How can you hate homosexuals? How can you hate poor people? How can you hate small businesses and independent non-chain operations? When did you become that way? What made you so...

Society: Awesome, you're so inspiring for young ladies. Everybody should feel beautiful no matter what size they are!
Underweight woman: I am confident and I love myself!
Society: Eww, you're gross! Stop promoting eating disorders and go eat a burger instead. Don't you know guys don't like skeletons?

I like this video for the Virginia Wine and Dine Month coming up in March. It’s only 30secs, and it is pretty convincing as far as how awesome VA wine is.

I don’t have a million friends, but the ones I have are like brothers to me. I know I’ve carved a lot of people out of my life, but the ones I hold dear have proven over and over again that I’ve chosen wisely, and that makes me feel like a pretty awesome person.

Tried a lot of Am Rhein’s wine portfolio today. Very nice stuff, much of it. I love their Sauv Blanc. Tonight is a reading of poetry and fiction on our stage at the restaurant, and then a band will play music. It all starts at 6.

Bar Hoppers last night
Bar Hoppers is a bunch of one act plays set in bars written by local talent. Last night they were set at my bar with musical accompaniment by the Judy Chops. It was a pretty fantastic night. Utterly enjoyable.
